Professor Nancy S. Lory
Diverse Voices from the Field

Mission Statement

The Diverse Voices from the Field Colloquium is dedicated to bringing speakers to campus who provide a diverse perspective on the field of education.  Each speaker has experienced life from a culturally diverse perspective, and is able to speak on the impact of this perspective on the teaching and learning experience and on the educational system.  Diverse Voices includes race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender-related issues, religion, ability, and learning differences in the definition of diversity.  While speakers are specifically targeted to speak on educational issues, each event is also designed to foster dialogue with other academic disciplines, the local educational community, and the citizens of the Monadnock Region.

Dr. Dottie Bauer, Dr. Susan Theberge, and Dr. Lory created the Diverse Voices Colloquium in 2000 in response to the need to have opportunities for teacher educations students to engage with dynamic and controversial speakers from throughout the country.  Keene State College has been a strong supporter of our efforts.
