Geography
is always evolving;
it is always “fresh”.
Research conducted by
KSC Geography students
include:
- A project
in which data
obtained from
the Department
of Environmental
Services and
the City of
Keene found
that higher
rates of pollution
in the Ashuelot
River correlated
with lower riverfront
property values.
- A project,
useful for all
outdoor enthusiasts,
in which geographic
information
systems (GIS)
was used to
map out all
the Rails-to-Trails
in Cheshire
County . The
map illustrates
not only the
trails, but
also the condition
of each trail
and the nearest
available parking
and access routes
to the trails.
- A project
utilizing data
obtained from
the Federal
Communications
Commission to
map out all
cell towers
in New Hampshire
. By drawing
a buffer around
each tower,
the map was
able to indicate
which areas
of New Hampshire
provide adequate
reception for
cellular telephones.
