                                          Margaret S. Langford

 Dr. Margaret S. Langford is a professor of French at Keene State College.   She earned her doctoral degree from the University of Washington in Medieval Comparative Literature in 1974. After marrying into the Daneault-Leblanc family (Suncook, New Hampshire), she gradually shifted her scholarly interests to Franco-American Studies. Sabbatical leave projects in 1984,1992 focused on oral interviews and research on Franco-Americans. Her 1999 was devoted to Rémi Tremblay's Un Revenant, a Franco-American Civil War Novel (title in English translation: One Came Back, 2002). Since 1996 she has interwoven research, publications as well as regional, national and international presentations on this work . In addition , through small grant sponsorship, she has brought Franco-American speakers, musicians, writers, and exhibits to the Keene State College campus from 1982 to present. She is a member of the American-Canadian French Cultural Commission in New Hampshire, the French Institute at Assumption College, and Incorporator of the Franco-American Centre in Manchester, New Hampshire. She teaches the AMST/FR/WS Franco-American Women's Voices course.

While pursuing Franco-American interests, Dr. Langford has continued to be deeply committed to language concerns. She is co-founder and present co-chair of Pizza and Pedagogy , the collaborative for language teachers in Southwestern New Hampshire. In 1992 the American Association of Academic Alliances honored her for outstanding contributions to the teaching and promotion of French as a second language.  In 1994, the New Hampshire Association for the Teaching of Foreign Languages selected her as teacher of the year. In 1998, she received the New Hampshire Excellence in Education Award.
