Current areas of research in the Department are: synthesis and characterization of dendrimer molecules which have an impact on the development of “green” chemical processes; investigations of reactions in the solid state by irradiating laser dye crystals with monochromatic light sources to produce [2+2] solid state photodimerization reactions as a single-crystal-to-single-crystal conversion; synthesis and characterization of thiosemicarbazone and bis(thiosemicarbazone) molecules complexed to transition metals to be examined for their antitumor and antiviral activity; development of new electrodes for use in electrochemical techniques in a variety of applications and applied to a variety of environmental problems.
Professor Jasinski studies molecular systems in the solid state by the use of Single Crystal X-ray Crystallography. |
